To those struggling with a Workers Comp case:

My life has led me to develop a passion for justice and fairness for those in need. I believe I learned that from my dad. Fairness was very important to him. What I learned in college at Mercer University and in law school at the University of Georgia increased my desire to help others achieve justice and fair treatment.

Although workers’ compensation is supposed to balance the interests of injured workers and employers, it seems like injured workers often get the short end of the stick. I cannot tell you how many times people have contacted me because they are frustrated with the delays that they encounter trying to get the treatment and compensation that they should after an injury at work. Trying to make sure that the workers’ compensation system treats people fairly is what motivates me to work hard.

Trying to make Georgia’s workers’ compensation system better has also driven me to volunteer my time in a number of different organizations and to serve in leadership roles I have served as President of the Workers’ Compensation Claimants Lawyers section of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. I currently serve on the Executive Committee for the Workers’ Compensation Section of the State Bar of Georgia and on the Chairman’s Advisory Council for the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation.

Helping others is a passion of mine. My workers’ compensation experience lets me help others in a few different ways. I most enjoy the Georgia Workers’ Compensation Video Series that I post on our Perkins Studdard YouTube Channel and the informational articles that I post on the Perkins Law Talk blog. I also often speak at continuing legal education seminars where I hope to help others learn about Georgia’s workers’ compensation law.

If you want to know a little bit about who I am outside of work, my biggest joy in life is the time that I get to spend with my wife, son, and daughter. They motivate me to be better. I also enjoy distance running and reading because they challenge me and give me time to think.
